Suggested STRATEGIES for solving the possible problems that may arise while doing Spoken production activities

On the preparation level
- Clearly set and suitable tasks
- Suitable topics that provoke the students’ interest
- Provide/ learn/ revise key words
- Provide/ learn/ revise set phrases
- Provide grammatical structures

A good preparatory phase before the Spoken Production activity is a way to avoid students’ problems with it. A suggestion is the following pre-activity to ‘I can make an announcement on the plane’ Level A2 – giving instructions:

Reading similar scripts beforehand
Prepare visual materials
Memorize prepared structures/texts
Rehearse on the student’s own/ in front of a peer or group
Acquaint the speaker with the situation/audience/environment
Consider the time limit

On the execution level
- Using visual support
- Using set phrases
- Using guiding questions
- Using tapes that require response
- Using body language and compensating strategies
On the monitoring/ repairing level
- Recording for self-monitoring later
- Taking down notes for giving feedback
- Using a checklist questionnaire
- Voting
- Composing lists of mistakes done and correcting them
