Reflection on Spoken production skills

Task 05: Complete the statements with the type of Spoken production which the exercise in the box is suitable to illustrate. Take into consideration the level – A1 or A2. Click on the first sentence of the example exercises to see it in full detail. For further support, you can refer to the CEFR tables provided after the last box.


1. The task is suitable to illustrate:


Talk about the jobs you and other people like and don’t like.
 

Step 1. Make a sentence choosing from the lists of options the ones that are true for you.

Step 2. Ask three students about the jobs they like and don’t like. Use the table to write down your and their answers. Choose jobs from the list.

Step 3. Use your notes to talk about your and your classmates’ likes and dislikes. Use the pattern from Step 1.



2. The task is suitable to illustrate:


You are a flight attendant. Give instructions to the passengers on board.
 

Step 1. Select the correct verb to fill in the gaps in these instructions:

“Dear passengers,

Please, _______ your hand luggage in the lockers. _______ your seats and _______ your belts.

Don’t ________and _______around the cabin until the sign above your head is still on.

Don’t ________ your mobile phones and don’t ________ on the plane.

Enjoy your flight!”

Step 2. Record the announcement so that it can be used on the plane.



3. The task is suitable to illustrate:


You are at a tourist fair to present famous resorts and attract clients for the next tourist season.
 

Step 1. Drag the suitable pictures next to the texts which describe them.

Step 2. Read the text carefully and look at the list of words and phrases in the box. Drag and drop the best phrase or word to complete each gap.

Step 3. Present the resorts to your clients.



4. The task is suitable to illustrate:


Your class wants to raise money to support the local Zoo where some of the world’s endangered species can be seen. At the meeting that you are organizing, each one of you will give a short talk about one of these animals.
 

Step 1. Read the texts. Drag and drop the proper pictures to the texts.

Step 2. Choose the correct form of the verbs to complete the gaps.

Step 3. Present the information to your audience.



5. The task is suitable to illustrate:


You are at a new school/workplace. Introduce yourself to your classmates/colleagues.

Step 1. Look at the list below the boxes. Drag and drop the names of the places and buildings that you can or can’t find where you live into the suitable box below.

7. The task is suitable to illustrate:


What do you do every day?
 

Step 1. Draw the time of the day on the clock face. Drag and drop a suitable word or phrase under it from the list to the left to describe what you do at these hours. Use as many of the clock faces as you need.

Step 2. Tell about your usual day to the class.



8. The task is suitable to illustrate:


You are at a wedding. Propose a toast to the newly married couple.
 

Step 1. Choose words and expressions that can go with: Be…., Have…., I wish you….. There is more than one possibility.

Step 2. Choose one and say it.

You are a TV-show host. A famous person is on your show today.
 

Step 1. Look at the six pictures. Complete the sentences under the pictures with the correct information about each person from the drop-down lists.

Step 2. Choose your guest and present him or her to the viewers. Start with “Dear Viewers,”

You have to make an announcement on the school radio about the annual school group’s concert.
 

Step 1. Look at the poster and fill in the missing information in the text below it.

Step 2. Read and record it and play it for your classmates.



11. The task is suitable to illustrate:


You are making a phone call to a school to sign up for an English course but you hear the answering machine.
 

Step 1. Listen to the instructions about the information you should give so that the school can get in touch with you later.

Step 2. Complete the different phone messages with suitable words and phrases.

Step 3. Choose one option and make the phone call.



12. The task is suitable to illustrate:

Step 1. Make sentences choosing from the lists about the job you like and the one you don’t like and match them to the appropriate reasons.

Step 2. Ask three students about the jobs they like and don’t like. Use the table to write down your and their answers.

Step 3. Use your notes to talk about your and your classmates’ likes and dislikes and the reasons about them.
