A2. I can give a short talk about endangered animals

Addressing audiencies


Your class wants to raise money to support the local Zoo where some of the world’s endangered species can be seen. At the meeting that you are organizing, each one of you will give a short talk about one of these animals.
 

Step 1. Read the texts. Match the proper pictures to the texts.

Step 2. Choose the correct form of the verbs to complete the gaps.

Step 3. Present the information to your audience.

Text 1

They in Ecuador on the Galapagos Islands. They are 110 cm long and between 150 and 200 kg.
These enormous animals live on land and rarely into the water. They very slowly – about 6.5 km a day.
They are in danger because sailors who used to at the Galapagos Islands in the past them easily for food. When the ships on the islands, black rats on the shore, there and the eggs of these large but tender animals.

It’s in danger because in the past people used pesticides (chemicals used to control insects) where this animal lives. These pesticides the fish which it eats. The poison ) in its body and its eggs weak. The eggs very easily and the babies inside died.

It in south central and southeastern Asia. It’s about 6 metres long and is about 5000 kg heavy.
It 181 kg of leaves, branches and grass and 230 litres of water every day. Its babies 90 kg when they are born.
It’s in danger because farmers down the forests that it lives in. Also, because hunters and traders used to and it for its tusks (the huge teeth that out of its mouth).
This animal’s relative who in Africa got larger ears and less rounded back.

These animals in the Northern half of North America, Asia and parts of Europe.
They are between 127 and 178 cm long and between 27 and 71 kg.
They and small animals such as mice. They in groups when they kill larger animals and they for the sick and weak ones.
They are in danger because in the past people that these animals the animals that people needed for food, so hunters them. In fact, these animals the deer population healthy and under control and has its place in nature.
